Zune_Wallpaper_1

If you have a zune — don’t look like that — then here’s a wallpaper for you. I think I’ll start posting these regularly. There’s nothing worse than keeping the same wallpaper image for like, decades. And in computer years, a decade amounts to 1 week. Just do the whole right click thing to download this.

Well for the first time, when I think of June, purple enters the equation. Man this headache won’t quit. Purple is the enemy. Do you know the enemy? Doyouknowtheenemy? Well gotta know the enemy, wah hey!

Umm another good thing about Memphis and South Main’s art trolley tour: Alexander Paulus. I didn’t know this guy existed until last night when I ventured (for the first time) into Jack Robinson’s gallery. I strolled past black-and-white photos of celebrities like Clint Eastwood and John Lennon, turned the corner to the left and there was Alexander’s work. Sparse. Smart. Stripped down.  I love his work. I haven’t felt compelled to buy any art in quite some time, but I think I must have a piece.

Check out his blog at www.alexanderpaulus.blogspot.com.

*This is not so easy achieving — minimalism. It’s deeper. I wish I had a pic to post. My jpg is just that, a collection of  lossy pixels with no soul.*

Unifunk

Great music from these guys called Unifunk (I don’t have a spelling, yet). The audio, video is kinda crappy, I wasn’t planning on seeing something I liked last night, and plus the clothing store across the skreet was blasting vintage 2004 Usher. But trust me these boys jam harder than Smuckers (terrible attempt at a joke, I know). Anyway, I can’t wait to book them for a party. 1 of these days. Possibly this summer. Memphis still has good music, good original talent to support. You know, the music is probably the only redeeming quality of this city’s leftovers. Or maybe I’m just saying this ’cause I have a headache. Or maybe I mean it. Or maybe. Just maybe. Maybe Memphis?

Street lights + rain + slow shutter speed = magic textures.

This weekend I went to a dance performance at Theater Works, tres cool. Tried a new downtown lounge called The Silly Goose for the first time and ended the night with friends listening to a Nashville band called Hillbilly Casino. Yes, Hillbilly Casino. I’d go anywhere for live music, this proves it. Great weekend. Even the whole Sunset Symphony thingy, thanks for the late fireworks.

It’s been a minute, huh? Here’s the text, sms of the week. And again, keep ’em coming!

Did you know yogurt is spelled at least four different ways, like yoghurt, youghurt and yoghourt. So this means I’m a milky, tangy, fermented kind of cool. I like it!

It takes about 9 hours or so to get from Memphis to Ohio. I’ve never been until this past weekend. It was great. Here’s some pics.

Another logo for my blog, Kharaoke. This is also my Facebook buddy icon. Or whatever those things are called. Profile icons. Or something. Omg. Technoterminologyjargonstress. My palm is cramping up now. Must stop typing. … … Stop. … Typing.

A few pictures from my outing last week at Flight Restaurant, Wine Bar in downtown Memphis. The concept behind Flight restaurant is inspired by tasting flights, where the taster gets a sampling of various wines to evaluate, examine for the purpose of sampling and comparison. At Flight, this sampling is extended to the appetizers (salad, soup), and entrees (fish, foul, etc.) as well.

What I Ordered (My Favorites in Bold)

The flight of french wines called A SANTE’ ($9.00), which included:

  • RONCIER N/V Pinot Noir-Burgundy, France
  • CHATEAU DAMASE Bordeaux Superior, France
  • FAT BASTARD Syrah, France

The flight of Salad ($9.00), which included:

  • FETA AND WATERMELON SALAD
  • ORANGE AND AVOCADO SALAD
  • BABY SPINACH SALAD

The flight of fresh fish ($29.00), which included:

  • ATLANTIC GROUPER FILLET
  • ATLANTIC HALIBUT FILLET
  • CHILEAN SEABASS FILLET

The food was fresh, delicious, and I will definitely be back for more. Next I’ll try dessert, if I can afford it. Eh.
